Children's social relations in peer groups:
inclusion, exclusion and friendships

In this report we focus on the set of relationships that the children in the CHICAM clubs formed with other children of similar ages within the peer group and how they portrayed these in their media productions. We discuss the children's social relations in general as well as the specific issues of inclusion-exclusion.

School as an arena for education, integration and socialization
Deliverables 9 and 10

The aim of this report is to analyse the relationship between migrant / refugee children and educational institutions that emerged from the CHICAM project and through their media productions. It focuses, in particular, upon the school as an institution and in terms of it’s everyday “bricks-and-mortar” appearance.

Deliverables 11 and 12

The aim of this research report is to look at family relationships and communication across generations, to analyse how children in the CHICAM clubs see themselves positioned within these relationships, and to explore how their perceptions were articulated in the process of making media productions.

This booklet is aimed at media educators working with socially excluded young people in out-of-school settings. It outlines some of the strategies that might lead to more effective kinds of film or video making with young people who are learning to use these media for communication and expression.
