WAC Performing Arts & Media College (Weekend Arts College) is the largest department in InterChange Trust, a leading national provider of arts and education training and resources. WAC is a performing and media arts project for young people from low income families. Founded in 1978, WAC was named as an exemplary project in the Arts in Schools Report (Gulbenkian Foundation 1982) and has since developed a national and international reputation for its work. It offers a range of classes at weekends, in the evening and during school holidays for 5-25 year olds. 60% of members are from ethnic minority backgrounds. Four hundred young people attend classes every week while there are 600 on the waiting list.
Role:
WAC is responsible for developing and maintaining the technical infrastructure of CHICAM and in collaboration with the Centre for the Study of Children, Youth and Media (partner 1) and for overseeing the media productions.
